Design Year: 2008, Reissued 2011
The Soap Stones are handcrafted glycerin soap intended for both use and display. Drawing from a material palette inspired by naturally occurring gemstones such as Rose Quartz and Aquamarine and metamorphic rock such as Jade and Onyx, the Soap Stones combined brilliant colors with the potent effects of essential oils such as Eucalyptus and Camphor.
The Soap Stones were first designed in 2008 and then exhibited at ‘Destination NY’ in 2011 at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. The full collection of Soap Stones ranged between three sizes and were produced in seven color and scent combinations. Special edition soaps were also produced in limited quantities seasonally – all were made, hand-cut and packaged in the PELLE studio from 2008 until 2016.
The Soap Stone collection has been sold worldwide – from Barneys in NYC, Selfridges in London, MoMA Design Store in Tokyo, Fred Segal in Los Angeles, Vitra Design Museum Shop in Switzerland, and Le Bon Marche in Paris.
