Miami Art and Design Week 2021: Artisan Botanical Furnishings, Electric Cars, and More
Team AD recounts Day 1 of the festivities
Natural Elements
There was no shortage of exuberant, jaw-dropping furniture and objects on display at Design Miami—nor of buyers and collectors feverishly searching for the next great piece. (This year, buyers have new means of doing so thanks to Design Miami’s first-time acceptance of cryptocurrency.)
Some of the designs that had us doing double-takes on Tuesday were Twenty First Gallery’s casework designs by Marcin Rusak, which suspended real botanical elements in their panels for luminescent, ethereal renditions of wardrobes and chests. A gilded bar composed of real leaves greeted the booth’s visitors. Elsewhere, plants formed a prominent part of Pelle’s latest collection (and first-ever booth at the fair). A rainbow assortment of florals creeps up a new mirror from the designers, and helps conjure a festive Miami spirit.
